Simo Serpola’s roots are in the southern Finland, in the capital region. He got his formal education from the Design Institute of Lahti from where he graduated as a furniture designer and finished his Master at the Aalto University, Product and Spatial Design program. He is working as a freelancer under the name Simose. Although Simo usually finds himself designing contemporary luminaires and lighting he wants to keep a versatile approach to day to day objects with a direct contact to people’s life and architecture. He looks for new and unprecedented yet classically functional ideas that are transformed into visually strong outcomes. Simo Serpola has been recognized and awarded for his designs both nationally and internationally.
